According to the Los Angeles Community Health Survey (LACHS), there are higher rates of health disparities among minorities in Los Angeles. The survey revealed that minorities, including Black and Latino residents, are more likely to experience health issues such as diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure compared to white residents.
The LACHS, which interviewed over 7,500 adults in Los Angeles County, found that Black residents are more than twice as likely to have diabetes compared to white residents. Additionally, Latino residents are more likely to be obese and have high blood pressure.
These disparities in health outcomes among minorities highlight the need for targeted health interventions and resources to address the underlying social determinants of health. The findings of the LACHS emphasize the importance of addressing systemic racism and inequality in order to improve the health outcomes of all residents in Los Angeles.
