HOUSTON – A Houston-area contractor has been accused of ignoring federal safety regulations which ultimately led to the death of a teenager on the job.
According to OSHA, the contractor failed to provide proper fall protection equipment and training to the 19-year-old worker. This negligence resulted in the tragic death of the young worker at a construction site in Houston.
OSHA officials have since cited the contractor for multiple safety violations and proposed fines totaling $34,000. The contractor has been given 15 days to comply with the regulations or contest the citations.
The loss of the young worker has prompted OSHA to remind all employers of their responsibility to provide a safe working environment for their employees. OSHA officials have emphasized the importance of following safety regulations to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
